
Benign Acquired Nevi
- Common nevi have a wide variety of clinical appearances
- They are symmetric with homogeneous surface and even pigmentation
- Often concentrated on sun exposed areas of the trunk
- Less commonly on palms, soles
- Tend to increase in number during childhood and adolescence
- Most of them remain benign throughout the lifetime
- Having a large number increases the risk of melanoma
- Periodic total body examinations are recommended to lower the risk
